2010 Party on the Square Designated Litter Free Event
[Lexington, Ky.] – Bluegrass PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In a Desirable Environment) and Beautify Garrard County have partnered for the second year to make the fourth annual Garrard County Party on the Square a litter-free event. The free event will be held on Friday, June 18 from 7-10 p.m. at Lancaster Town Square.
The Party on the Square marks the end of Garrard County’s fourth annual Anti Litter/Beautification Campaign that began on May 1. The campaign promotes litter clean-up and beautification efforts in Garrard County and encourages locals to take action and get involved. As part of a litter-free event, Party on the Square’s organizers will take steps to encourage attendees to preserve the local environment by properly and responsibly disposing of all trash and recyclables while at the event. Methods to achieve this may include use of strategically placed trash cans and recycling bins, use of signs and banners, and regular announcements by the event’s emcee.
“Bluegrass PRIDE is excited to partner for the second year with Beautify Garrard County to make Party on the Square litter-free. Events such as this can have a big impact by efficiently educating people about proper trash disposal and how to get involved in the community,” said Amy Sohner, executive director of Bluegrass PRIDE.
As always, the event will celebrate the 2010 clean-up efforts with live entertainment, dancing, free food, craft making, games, prizes and give-a-ways.For more information on Party on the Square, log onto www.beautifygarrardcounty.blogspot.com.
