[Lexington, Ky.] – Bluegrass PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In a Desirable Environment) has named Jaclyn Phelps as its new Fayette County PRIDE Coordinator. Phelps succeeds Penny McFadden, who vacated the position following her retirement in November 2008.
A Bluegrass PRIDE county coordinator serves as a liaison between the organization and each of its 18 counties, working with PRIDE’s staff to implement environmental education programs, facilitate community outreach, and provide ideas for further environmental involvement.
Phelps currently works in the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) Department of Environmental Quality. She has assisted Bluegrass PRIDE on numerous initiatives, including the WasteBuster program and a grant to provide anti-litter curriculum to Fayette County students in grades K-12.
“We’re so excited to have Jaclyn Phelps on board as our Fayette County PRIDE Coordinator,” said Amy Sohner, executive director of Bluegrass PRIDE. “We’ve always been impressed by her enthusiasm and passion for making a difference in her community.”
