[Lexington, Ky.] – Bluegrass PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In a Desirable Environment) has been recognized as a Commerce Lexington Salute to Small Business Award recipient for its environmental initiatives and policies. Bluegrass PRIDE was one of eight award winners, receiving an award in the Green Initiative category.
The Green Initiative Award recognizes a small business for implementing internal or external green initiatives that encourage sustainable, environmentally-friendly business practices. Criteria included written policies, goals and metrics for green practices, provision or use of energy efficient products or services, and effective measures to encourage employee participation in business practices that have a positive impact on the company and the community.
“As an environmental organization, we strive to put our values in practice by creating a workplace that minimizes our impact on the environment and actively promotes positive business practices,” said PRIDE Executive Director Amy Sohner. “Not only do we advocate the use of items and tools such as composting, reusable dishes and flatware, ENERGY STAR equipment, and resource conservation, we practice them in our own office.”
Since 1986 Salute to Small Business Award has been honoring the contributions that small businesses have on our local economy.
Bluegrass PRIDE provides resources and education to empower Central Kentuckians to foster positive environmental change in their communities. For more information please visit www.bgPRIDE.org.
